Meet some of our On Belay students!
Alice
Alice is 21years old. Alice was abandoned by her parents when she was 5 years old. She recently graduated from Buloba Royal College (Secondary School) , and is now enrolled at Kyanbogo University. Alice likes praying, worshipping, and making friends. She wants to have a career in accounting or land surveyence. Alice would like to ask for prayer for God to help her be successful in her studies.
Hamuza
Hamuza is 18 years old, and was abandoned at a very young age. He is now in Secondary 5 at St. Francis School. He wants to be a doctor when grows up. He is joyful, caring and loves sports and riding bikes. His prayer request is that God will give him wisdom.
John
John is 23 years old and has recently completed secondary school. He is an excellent student and upon graduating from secondary school received a half bursary scholarship from the government to study medicine. He is now in his 2nd year of a 5 1/2 year program at Kampala International University, working on his degree in medical surgery. Please pray that he adjusts well to university life and excels in his studies.
Mercy
Mercy is 22 years old. Mercy was only 5 years old when she came to the children’s home at Gganda Village. After completing Secondary 4 at Passion Christian Academy, she enrolled in Tem Fashion School of Beauty where she studied fashion design. Since her studies, Mercy has gotten married and started a family. She is now continuing her studies doing an internship with a local seamster in her home village. Mercy loves God and others, and serves on the worship team at her church. She needs much prayer, as she has struggled many years with chronic, undiagnosed illness. Mercy asks for prayer for spiritual growth, good health, and success in starting a business.
Agnes
Agnes has had a difficult life. Her father died when she was young and she was unable to complete her education. She married a muslim man and after giving birth to her first child, the mother in law forced her to convert. She refused and was “sent out” with a 1 1/2 year old son. She found work as as a housemaid but was unable to make ends meet at times. She later remarried and now has a 9 month old boy. Her husband doesn’t have a good job they often put their baby to sleep hungry. Agnes was very motivated to do well in her sewing class and has had great success. She stated that Open Door Bible and Skills Training Centre has greatly impacted her life because now she has a skill and can provide for her family. Agnes just graduated from her course in November of 2023 and is already finding work. Please pray that her husband can find work and that they can sustain their family.
Vanessa
Vanessa is 19 years old. She was 3 years old and the youngest of 5 siblings when she was rescued and brought to the children’s home. She attends St. Francis School and is in Secondary 5. Vanessa’s favorite things are singing, worshipping God and spending time with her friends. She struggles with academics and is asking for prayer for a better performance in school, and to grow spiritually.
