Helping Uganda’s Disadvantaged Young People Become Flourishing Adults

For Our Secondary and University Students:

Room and Board

When school is in session, our secondary and university students receive room and board at school.  During school breaks and holidays, On Belay secures housing and meals for all the supported students.  Whether the students are at school or on break, our Ugandan staff works to strengthen the relationship with each student, providing emotional and spiritual support for their developing independence.

Education

On Belay assures that all students have the necessary funds to pay for school, including tuition, books, uniforms, and other school supplies.  Students who have completed formal schooling are supported as they select and begin a career through apprenticeships and other job training opportunities.

For students enrolled in Open Door Bible and Skills Training Centre:

Skills Training

In the last two years, On Belay has moved away from higher education in favor of skills training for any new students joining the program. In 2023 we opened our own school, Open Door Bible and Skills Training Centre, which offers a variety of life skills, regardless of your educational level. A very low tuition is charged so that all who are in need can join. Upon completion of the requirements, a student is awarded a certificate that helps them in securing work in their field or beginning their own small business. (Our school does not offer room and board and many students walk far distances to attend. In the future, it is our hope to provide a small lunch as funds become available.)

Spiritual Support

The On Belay leadership in Uganda encourages the supported students to seek and know God through Christ, providing mentorship and conducting yearly spiritual retreats for secondary and university students, and onsite, daily Bible classes for students enrolled in Open Door Bible and Skills Training Centre.
